I will be travelling to Ao Nang for a 2 week holiday starting 19th Jan. I plan to complete my PAI open water certification while in Thailand.

Does anyone have any info on good dive operators in the area and any dive sites which I should consider or any factors I should consider whilst diving as a novice in Thailand. I am keen to make the most of my new diving experiences in such a wonderful area, but I want to be sure I am in good hands receiving sound advice.

I have details from Aqua Vision diving from Ao Nang - does anyone have any dealings with them?

Any info would be appreciated.

I stayed on Ko Lanta over Xmas/New Year and dived with Lanta Diver (Swedish but speak everything). We did the off shore islands with a fairly big boats as speed boats are quicker but cramped. I did only two day trips, Koh Haa (means 5 island) and Hin Daeng/ Hin Mouang(submerged deep water reef). The later being VERY nice, 3 Leopard sharks, 1 manta, huge shoals of barracuda, bat fish, the list goes on! The only drawback being a 4 hours chug to the site (Ko Haa closer though).
Nice area, I am saving up for next trip already!
Cheers
Mike

Thanks for your reply. I hope I am as fortunate as you were. I will have a look on the map and see if there are any dive centres closer to the dive marks.

Just finished my theory & enclosed water dives. Now can't wait to get out there and dive for real.
