I'm planning a visit at the end of August, and want to do my Advanced. Lonely Planet suggests that the Gulf is better at that time of year. I'm looking for confirmation. If true, where in the Gulf has the best diving without being overcrowded? Ko Toa seems to be the most popular choice, would anyone disagree. I'm interested to hear peoples opinions and recommendations on good professional dive centres.

I'm a Brit and I've been living in Thailand for the past 6 years and I can honestly claim that diving the Andaman side in August is fantastic, great viz, less people and better prices. Don't trust everything the Lonely Planet says, sure it is officially low season in August but most of the rain hits in May and September. I'm the owner of Scuba Addicts, a British owned and managed PADI and SSI centre in Ao Nang, Krabi. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have, in an impartial manner.

Have to agree about the visibility and response Sofisdad gave. I dive in the Phuket area and there are plenty of choices in and around the area. Again if any help is needed please feel free to contact me.
